My experience
I have spent over 20 years inventing and developing digital products. I act as a leader insofar as I have convictions about how to create and develop a digital product culture. In that sense, I accept the separation between management (dealing with complexity) and leadership (driving transformation and change). This leadership has led me to try it at numerous companies, as well as to leave them when I felt my contribution was no longer useful.
I am primarily a tinkerer, so I tend toward creation-oriented leadership. This doesn't prevent me from also having a strong ability to develop team-oriented organizations.
I enjoy all facets of digital product work. Writing is one of the things I enjoy most, and that includes software. I continue to participate in all the activities necessary to build something, from those closest to the technical dimension (software, design, analytics, systems, etc.) to those that connect all human and organizational aspects. I like to work on them directly.
I have a perspective on what the craft of building digital products entails, closely connected to my own experience. I teach this personal vision at Instituto Tramontana, within the Product Management Program. I am fortunate to confront my ideas and learn from the people who take the program.
I believe software throws us into a world that is newer than we usually think. I rely especially on daily evidence, history, and the economics of information to build my own explanations. My reading of this novelty leads me to reinterpret classic topics such as invention, organizations, quality, strategy, information, and data, among many others. As well as to draw practical consequences.
I practice any form of creation and incorporate materials I find interesting, regardless of their origin. I collect on this site comic strips, articles that summarize part of my teaching work, code I release, literary notes, and other materials I enjoy.
I practice a leadership of being of service and being present for the people I work with.
My work
Currently, I am CPO at Dcycle. I also advise individuals and digital product teams, sometimes with very close accompaniment.
I give talks and workshops on digital product. Often at companies that need to refresh themselves with new ideas and are willing to challenge themselves to improve.
I have known, and continue to know, a good number of companies from different industries, different business models, and very diverse scales: Filmin, HP, Dcycle, Tribbu, Carto, Twenix, Toprural, BetKing, TUI, Chubby Apps, Nespresso, BBVA, Reclamador, Mirai, Ninety Nine, Muroexe, IBM...
